Words Are All I'm Made Of

I am an aspiring writer, a student of the fine art of web & interactive design, a voracious reader, and a not-so-frequent roleplayer. I share domicile with and provide sustenance and entertainment for two cats and a German Shepherd with no common sense. I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. I have two BA's as of Dec. 2007: one in Multimedia Arts & Sciences with an emphasis in Interactive Design from UNCA and one in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College.

I frequently make up phrases and lose words and generally utilize language in a fashion hitherto unknown to mankind, at least in my conversational dialogue (whether spoken or written). In formal communication I tend to have, while not impeccable writing, a solid grasp of grammar and mechanics. This journal, however, will be written in "conversational" mode, and will most likely contain a preponderance of parenthetical remarks, so be forewarned.

I have an insatiable curiosity and a pretty broad-minded (some might say bizarre) opinion on the nature of the universe. I enjoy learning new things, discussing a broad range of topics, and occasionally (to my everlasting chagrin after the fact), lecturing on topics of my interest.

I think metaphorically and make connections in weird ways. I have a strange taste in music. My journal's mostly mundane stuff right now, and has lately been afflicted with a case of ranting technobabble as I traverse the hazards of web design with just enough skill to get me in trouble.

ON CONTENT: I post on a semi-regular basis, and am usually long-winded. I do memes rarely and only when they have significant content or relevance. Most of what I write is public, though complex/personal stuff sometimes gets locked. I have one opt-in filter for my writing, but my writing's been sort of on hiatus of late.

ON FRIENDING: I friend quietly and on whim, and do not expect reciprocation (though it's always appreciated). I'm a lurker. I'm a watcher. I read people because they are interesting to me, and because I want to know more about them or what they say. My friendslist is filtered, mostly by topic (so that the communities and feeds aren't mixed up with the "people" posts) but I still read everything.

ON COMMENTING: I do not comment frequently. This does not mean I'm not paying attention; it just means I'm watching, learning, and absorbing. And when the timing's right, I will say something. It may lead to more somethings, or it may be a once in a blue moon sort of thing. I expect that people will comment on what I've said if they have a reason, and do not get unduly worried if they do not.
